Roaring 20's Car Club Presents
Proceeds to Southbury Training School

 

Members of the Roaring 20's Antique and Classic Car Club, Inc. recently presented a check to the Department of Mental Retardation's (DMR) Southbury Training School (STS) Director. For the past 34 years, the club has held their annual antique and classic car show at STS and donates their proceeds to the school. This year, the club donated $12,000, which will be used for the purpose of enhancing the residents' quality of life, and another $3,000 to the Southbury Training School Home and School Association which will be used for holiday gifts.

"The Roaring 20's Car Club is extremely dedicated to our residents at STS," said DMR Commissioner Peter H. O'Meara. "We are fortunate to have the Club's friendship and support."

 

Over the years, the club has raised over $225,000 for STS. The show usually held on the third Sunday in September, draws antique and classic cars from all over the northeast. According to Show Chairman Art Munter, it is the largest antique car show on the east coast with cars dating back to the early 1900's like a 1904 Cadillac that's worth a half million dollars to cars as new as 1971.
