For the past 34 years, the Roaring 20's Antique and Classic Car Club, Inc. present a check to the Department of Mental Retardation's (DMR) Southbury Training School (STS) in December which represents the clubs proceeds from thier annual antique and classic car show held the third Sunday in September each year.
Over the years the club has donated close to $300,000 to STS to be used for the purpose of enhancing the residents' quality of life. The club likes to present the check to the school in December so some of the money can be used to purchase holiday gifts for the residents.
The show each September draws antique and classic cars from all over the northeast. It is the largest one day antique car show on the east coast with cars dating back to the early 1900's and up to 1971.
"The Roaring 20's Car Club is extremely dedicated to our residents at STS," said STS Director Eugene Harvey. "We are fortunate to have the Club's friendship and support."
