Club History

The Roaring 20's Antique and Classic Car Club was formed in 1969 by ten people.  Today the club continues to thrive.  For over thirty years, the club has promoted one basic theme, "the preservation of the antique mode of automobile transportation". This theme continues to dominate today.

The club was incorporated in 1974, becoming a non profit organization in 1980.  Our annual car show at Southbury Training School, held the third Sunday in September, is the largest one day antique and classic car show in New England.  Through the help of our members, friends, and fellow auto enthusiasts who support our show, the Roaring 20's has donated more than $250,000 to Southbury Training School.  The school is a residential and rehabilitative facility for adults with mental retardation

The Roaring 20's is a family club.  It is not necessary to own an antique automobile to become a member.  All that is needed is an interest in the hobby and the desire to have FUN!  We plan numerous events throughout the year including seasonal tours, picnics, dinners, ice cream runs and more. Our membership is based on family and friends joining together.

We hold monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month. September through April meetings are held at the Holy Trinity Church, 200 Summer Street, Plantsville Connecticut.  May through August meetings are held at Thomaston Savings Bank, 985 Watertown Avenue, Waterbury Connecticut. Meetings start at 8:00 PM and are open to members, guests, and any interested parties.

Dues to join the club are $21.00 per year, per family.   ($1.00 of this is a donation to the Connecticut Council of Car Clubs)

As stated before, the club was started by ten men, who gathered together in a garage to form the Roaring 20's as we know it today.  As time passed, members have come and gone.  We are lucky enough to have four of the original members still active in the club today.  It is with pride that we make them HONORARY LIFETIME MEMBERS.  They are:

Anthony Fusco
Ken Lewis
James Parillo
Jerry Soltis

We also have several additional HONORARY LIFETIME MEMBERS.   They are:

Andy and Mary Doback
Dorothy Henion
Terri Parillo
Bill Brown
Mary Gura

We also have several additional HONORARY LIFETIME FAMILY MEMBERSHIPS. They are:
